I’m a working mother with a full-time working husband and a 1-year-old boy.
Today, I’d like to share a typical day in my life!
⸻
6:30 AM – Wake Up & Mini Onigiri Time
My son usually has mini rice balls (onigiri), or bread, and a banana for breakfast.
Mini onigiri are super convenient to make!
Just place some rice into the mold, close the lid, and shake it about 10–20 times.

I bought this onigiri maker at a 100-yen shop called DAISO. It’s like a dollar store in Japan.
He also loves furikake, which is a dry seasoning for rice.
Sometimes, I sprinkle it on the rice before shaking it in the onigiri maker.

⸻
8:00 AM – My husband drops off our son at daycare on his way to work.
8:30 AM – I start working from home.
⸻
12:00 PM – Lunch Break & Dinner Prep
During my lunch break, I often start preparing dinner.
⸻
4:00 PM – Finish Work & Pick Up Time
I finish work and ride my bicycle to pick up my son from daycare.
⸻
5:00 PM – My Son’s Dinner Time
Tonight’s dinner is Nikujaga, spinach miso soup, and rice.

Nikujaga is made by stir-frying beef, potatoes, carrots, and onions, then simmering everything in water, sugar, soy sauce, sake, mirin, and dashi stock. It’s very easy to make! My husband and I also had the same meal for dinner.
⸻
7:00 PM – My husband and I have dinner.
7:30 PM – Shower time.
8:30 PM – My son goes to bed.
10:00 PM – My husband and I go to bed.
The End!
