How I Made Our Family Trip Easier: Sending My Luggage to the Hotel with Yamato Delivery Service

Traveling by Shinkansen with a one-year-old baby and a big suitcase is no easy task.
For our family trip, we planned to ride the Shinkansen for about four hours.
However, there’s very limited space to store large luggage onboard, and on top of that, some spaces require a reservation in advance.

Since our trip was scheduled for four days and three nights, we needed to bring a lot of clothes, baby items, and other essentials.
Our suitcase ended up weighing 24 kg (!) and I was really worried about how I could manage both the heavy suitcase and my son while riding the Shinkansen.

While searching for a solution, I discovered that Yamato Transport offers a service where they deliver your luggage directly to your hotel before your arrival.
I dropped off our suitcase at the nearest Yamato service counter five days before our trip.
The delivery fee from my home to the hotel was about 5,000 yen.

Thanks to this service, I only needed to carry a small bag during our trip, which made traveling so much easier and more comfortable!

If you can’t read Japanese, it might seem a bit complicated at first.
But don’t worry — recently, Yamato Transport launched a special service for travelers who don’t understand Japanese.
(Please note that the service is currently limited to certain hotels.)

Even so, if you’re struggling with heavy luggage like I was, I highly recommend checking their website.
I hope you have a wonderful trip!
